This is a custom home and guest house on 20 acres in Mule Creek, NM, located 30 miles north west of Silver City, NM. Construction of the main house was completed in 2011 and the guest house in 2013.
Both of the houses on the property are made of stabilized adobe construction and with their south facing orientation extremely energy efficient. They are both easy to keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer. They are both made with primarily natural materials, including the interior walls which are made from natural clay, making the domiciles both comfortable and ecologically friendly.
Both houses have had very little use. As such, the appliances, fixtures, flooring, etc., are like new.
The property is on a well (ca. 80 ft.) Unlike most places in the area, water is abundant in Mule Creek. The property's well water has been tested and is very high quality drinking water. As you see in the photos and video, the property is grassland with deep, loamy topsoil (ideal for growing).
There is cell service in Mule Creek, and high speed internet (DSL) can be brought to the property via the local phone company, giving the property full connectivity.
Mule Creek is a micro-climate consisting of rolling grassland which makes it unique in an otherwise typical Southern New Mexico desert landscape.
The 20 acre parcel is located 1 mile from the Mule Creek post office. Mule Creek is a small community consisting of primarily old ranching families and, as most of the ranch land consists of large section size properties, It's a very peaceful place.
This is an ideal location for a couple looking to retire, to be developed as a horse property (see below), or someone who is looking for an easy to maintain second home where one can find solace and re-estabilish peace of mind.
It is breathtakingly peaceful here...
All necessary amenities can be found in Silver City, which has full medical services including a hospital (Gila Regional Medical Center), a state university and, along with chain grocery, hardware, and department stores, boasts one of the finest natural, organic food stores in Southern New Mexico!
With Mule Creek's DSL internet availability and cell reception, this property enables one to stay connected, making it possible to conduct business from this quiet sanctuary.
The previous owner had this basic stable set up for horses that were kept on the property.
The 20 acres is a long rectangle and mostly flat terrain. Available water is located not far from the horse shelter, about halfway down the property along the property road.
As this is ranching country, it's a horse friendly community. As well, there are many horse lovers in the area with stables, corrals, etc.
Trailering to National Forest for riding is minutes away.
While the acrage is unfenced, establishing post holes for fencing would be easily doable because of the loamy soil.
A beautiful setting for the equestrian life!
